“Beers ‘N’ Brats” and Corn Roast Events Connect Community, Great Products
LAKE BLUFF (July 23, 2014) – The Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market is committed to creating an inviting, community-oriented space while providing local residents with access to farm-fresh goods, unique products and more. Working to combine those two missions, the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market team today announced the dates for two of its most popular annual events – the Corn Roast and “Beers ‘n’ Brats”.
Scheduled for the Friday, August 1 Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market, the annual Corn Roast will again feature complimentary roasted corn for the assembled crowd. In addition to offering Lake Bluff residents with an expertly prepared taste of Illinois’ most popular crop, but it also provides the crowd a great experience for all the senses. In 2014, the Friends of the Lake Bluff Park District will sponsor the event and run the corn roaster. Corn will be offered from three market vendors including Didier Farms, Red Barn Farm and Twin Gardens Farm. Corn will be ready for sampling between 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
In addition to the Corn Roast, the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market – together with two popular Lake Bluff businesses – will present a special “Beers ‘N’ Brats” event to highlight this iconic pairing and the businesses offering it right here in Lake Bluff. The Daily Grind and Lake Bluff Brewing Company will provide the Beers ‘N’ Brats event at the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market on Friday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. This event is also offered to market guests free of charge.
“Our Corn Roast and Beers ‘N’ Brats events are two of the most exciting Fridays for the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market,” said Gridley Swanton, market manager for the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market. “There’s nothing better in the summer than great BBQ, refreshing beverages and fresh Midwest corn. These events help bring those favorites to Lake Bluff residents in an elevated and approachable way.”
“Together with music from local musicians, story time with the Lake Bluff Library, Master Gardeners, these events help support a key aspect of our mission – celebrating what makes Lake Bluff one of Chicago’s greatest suburbs,” Swanton continued. “Working together with farmers, vendors, local businesses, we are proud to contribute back to the Village’s reputation.”

In honor of our nation’s Independence Day, and in support of another amazing Lake Bluff tradition, our 104th 4th of July Parade, the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market will be closed on Friday, July 4th.

Market Announces 2014 Entertainment Schedule
LAKE BLUFF (June 5, 2014) – After a yearlong celebration in honor of its 20th anniversary in 2013, the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market today announced that its 21st year will kick off next Friday, June 13, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. on the Lake Bluff Village Green. The Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market will continue through October, every Friday except for the 4th of July. The Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market’s vendor list and entertainment schedule includes past favorites matched with new additions for 2014.
“We’re looking forward to another great year of bringing farm fresh produce and flowers, unique baked goods, tasty sweets, unique services and great entertainment to Lake Bluff each week,” said Gridley Swanton, market manager for the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market. “The energy of last year’s 20th anniversary is still alive as we enter 2014 and we continue to adapt our programming and vendors to meet the needs of our dedicated customers.”
Overall, the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market vendor mix for 2014 continues to represent a wide variety of produce, baked goods, flowers and a number of specialty products and services (olive oil, cooking sauces, knife sharpening, etc.) to accommodate the needs of the Market’s customers. The Market Committee is excited to welcome three new vendors this Summer that will further diversify the offerings each week. 2014’s new vendors include: Katic Breads (artisan/organic breads); Maggie’s Munchies (gourmet dog treats); and Windy City Pie Company.
The Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market Committee today also released the preliminary schedule of entertainment for the Market in 2014. In addition to live music from Terry Moran, Ken Hall and more at the Market each week, past event favorites like cooking demonstrations, the University of Illinois’ Master Gardeners and the famous Corn Roast will be back throughout the Summer. The Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market is again excited to partner with the Lake Bluff Public Library for a weekly, family-friend story time series. The Lake Bluff Library team will share story time at the Market from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
“The Lake Bluff Public Library’s story time series helps us achieve one of our main secondary goals each week – creating a community-focused event that draws Lake Bluff residents of all ages to the Village Green each week to connect with friends and neighbors,” Swanton continued. “Together with our great music lineup and other attractions, the Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market is the place to be this Summer.”
The Lake Bluff Farmers’ Market was launched in 1993 to provide Lake Bluff residents access to farm fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, jams, and much, much more. Throughout the Market season, patrons will find accessible parking near the Central Business District at the Walnut Avenue Parking Lot, the Train Station Lot, and at Artesian Park.
